OUR CRACK SEALING PROCESS

Cracks Don’t Wait — Neither Should You.

1. Surface Preparation

We begin by clearing out all debris, vegetation, and loose material from each crack using high-powered blowers and torches. This ensures a clean channel for proper bonding.

2. Hot Rubber Application

Using our RynoWorx Pro crack sealing machine, we heat and pour hot rubberized crack filler directly into the cracks. The material flexes with temperature changes and seals out water permanently.

3. Site Cleanup & Cure

The rubber is smoothed and leveled as it’s applied. Once cooled and cured — usually within minutes — the cracks are fully sealed and ready for sealcoating or traffic.

FAQs

What people ask about crack sealing...

What is crack sealing?

Crack sealing is the process of filling and sealing cracks in asphalt pavement using hot rubberized material. This prevents water, ice, and debris from getting into the cracks and causing further damage like potholes or structural failure.

Why should I crack seal my asphalt

Unsealed cracks allow water to penetrate below the surface, which weakens the base and leads to more serious (and expensive) issues. Sealing cracks early helps extend pavement life by up to 50% and prevents costly repairs down the road.

How wide do cracks need to be before sealing?

Cracks should be sealed if they’re wider than 1/4 inch. Smaller cracks may be left alone or monitored, while larger or "alligator" cracks might require patching or resurfacing instead.

How long does crack sealing last?

When done properly with hot rubber, crack sealing can last 3–5 years, depending on weather conditions and traffic. It's most effective when paired with regular sealcoating and pavement inspections.

How long before I can walk or drive on my asphalt?

Hot rubber typically cools and cures within 30–60 minutes, though we recommend waiting a few hours before driving on it if possible, especially in hot weather.

Can crack sealing be done in cold weather?

Yes — in fact, fall and winter are ideal, since cracks are wider and easier to fill completely. We use torches to ensure dry, warm surfaces for strong adhesion.
